The Hollywood Diet Review

What they say

"Created by Sunset Health Products, the original Hollywood 48-Hour Miracle Diet became an instant hit with both consumers and retailers upon its introduction in December 1997. It is the first rapid weight loss product on the market that not only helps people shed pounds, but also detoxify the body and rejuvenate the system. Originally conceived as a “health spa in a bottle” after a trip to a European Health Spa by one of its creators."

Our Review

The Hollywood Diet, or 48hr Hollywood Diet is not really a diet but a drink sold by Sunset Health that you use as a substitute for meals over a period of 48 hours. It claims to detoxify the body and result in weight loss of up to 10 pounds in 48 hours. The drink they say contains 100% vitamins and minerals you need in a regular diet.

Hollywood Diet Basic Rules

  • You cannot eat any food for 48 hours
  • You cannot drink alcohol, smoke or drink caffeine for 48 hours
  • You should drink plenty of water as well as the special Hollywood Diet drink.

Sunset Health products claim that by using their product and refraining from food, alcohol, caffeine and tobacco you get the same results as visiting an expensive Spa. They claim that the product helps detoxify the colon and the process is similar to changing the oil in your car.

The fact that many people have lost weight on this diet is almost definitely due to the fact that the drink contains only 400 calories. No doubt the same results could be obtained by starving yourself for 2 days and taking vitamins and supplements.

The Good

  • Not a lot except you do lose weight

The Bad

  • Starving yourself is not a recommended healthy diet option
  • Weight is very quickly regained
  • Leaves you feeling tired and low
  • Does not encourage a long term healthy nutritional approach
