The Zone Diet Review

What they say

"There is, however, something that everyone can do, and that many people are already doing, to take advantage of the most up-to-date research on the subject: Cut back! For decades we have been overeating animal products. Research on the effect of this overconsumption is overwhelmingly conclusive: It is killing us! "

Our Review

The Fit for Life Diet was developed in the 1980's by Harvey Diamond and his wife Marilyn. They believe that eating the wrong combinations of foods together such as proteins and starches leads to bad digestion and ultimatly toxins in the body. This they claim leads to weight gain and general bad health. They believe that eating certain combinations of foods at certain times of the day leads to better health and weight loss.

The Fit for Life Basic Rules

Simply put the Fit for Life Diet says that , fruit should be eaten from the time you get up until noon. This is because fruit is suposed to cleanse the system and move things along. Fruit cannot be eaten with anything else. For lunch and dinner you can either have a carbs based meal or or a protein meal, which would be protein, bur you cannot combine the two because this would cause toxins in the body. Dairy foods and refined sugar are not allowed at all and fruit must not be eaten after a meal.

The Good

  • Quite easy to follow though it sounds complex
  • Many foods are not limited
  • There is no weighing and counting

The Bad

  • Unproven theories on toxins and food combinations
  • Not enough food choices
  • can lead to protein, zinc, vitamin D and vitamin B12 deficiencies
